Ojo de Agua (Eye of Water) is a small rural village located in the state of Veracruz, Mexico. It is situated in the municipality of Texistepec, about five hours away from the state capital, Xalapa. The village lies in the lush Sierra Madre Oriental mountain range, at an elevation of 1,200 meters (3,700 feet) above sea level.

The village is home to about 500 people, mostly of indigenous descent. Most of the villagers are farmers and raise crops such as corn and beans. The village is surrounded by numerous creeks, streams, and rivers that provide ample water for the villagers to use for irrigation and household chores.

The area around Ojo de Agua is very remote, so tourism is minimal. However, the village is a popular spot for backpackers and nature lovers. A variety of hiking trails and roads are available, some of which lead to nearby colonial towns. The nearby National Autonomous University of Mexico’s Biological Station also offers guided tours of the area and its biodiversity.

The village has a very rustic feel, although it has a few shops and other amenities. A variety of traditional foods, such as mole and enchiladas, are available for purchase. The village also has its own chapel, which serves as the main gathering point for the community.

Ojo de Agua is a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and to reconnect with nature. The villagers are friendly and welcoming, and the surrounding landscape provides a beautiful backdrop for any outdoor activity. Despite its remote location, the village is an ideal destination for anyone looking to get away and enjoy the beauty of the Mexican countryside.
