Qarayazi is a populated place located in the Ağstafa district of Azerbaijan. It is situated in the foothills of the Greater Caucasus mountains, and is bordered by the Kura River to the east and the Shamkirchay River to the north. The population of the place is approximately 5,000 people, mainly ethnic Azeris, with a smaller number of Armenians, Kurds, and Russians.
The main economic activity of the area is agriculture, with a focus on growing grains, fruits, and vegetables. Livestock raising and beekeeping are also common. The area has some industry, with a small number of factories producing food, textiles, and furniture.
The main transportation routes in the area are the Kura and Shamkirchay rivers, as well as the Ağstafa-Qarayazi-Ganja railroad. The main road connecting the area is the Tbilisi-Baku highway.
The area is well known for its beautiful scenery and its numerous historical sites, including the ruins of the ancient city of Qarayazi, which dates back to the 8th century. The area also has several mosques and churches, as well as a number of parks and natural reserves.
Qarayazi is also home to several cultural events and festivals throughout the year, including the Qarayazi Music Festival, which is held annually. The area is also home to a number of interesting museums and art galleries, including the Ağstafa Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of Azerbaijan Carpets.
