1965 Ford Mk I Cortina Bodycraft Fastback Australia 
The Mk I Ford Cortina was built from 1962-66, not only in the UK but in Australia and NZ as well.
In The UK and NZ, 2 or 4 door saloon and 5 door estate, models were 46hp 1200cc Standard or Deluxe or 60hp 1500cc Super and 78hp 1500 GT. Also in the UK, Lotus developed a Cortina for racing with 105hp 1500cc twin cam.
Australian Mk I Cortinas varied slightly in badging and interior trim; 220 2 door (1200cc and 5 bar grille), 240 2 door and 440 4 door (60hp 1500), 4 door GT (78hp 1500) In 1965, a race ready 98hp 2 door GT500.
In October 1965 Allan Cumming from Bodycraft in Geelong, Victoria thought there would be a market for a sleeker version of the Mk I Cortina. Only four were eventually produced; a 240 1500cc 2 door, 2 2 door GTs and this car a 4 door 1500cc Automatic, originally painted Gold. This car was a special order for Ford's cheif designer Lew Bandt's wife (Lew designed the first Coupe Utility in 1934)

The Mk II Ford Cortina was built in the UK from 1966-70, and from 1967 in Australia and NZ. The boxier shape Mark II was available in 2 or 4 door Saloons and in the UK and NZ, an Estate. Initially 1200 and 1500cc engines were carried over from the Mk I, in Jan 1968, replaced with 1300 and 1600cc cross flow head. 
A mild facelift in Jan 69 saw separate F O R D letters on bonnet and boot. Auxiliary gauges on the GT dropped from a central pod on top of the dash to a central position within the dash. 
Models in the UK were; Base, Deluxe, Super, GT, 1600E and Lotus twin cam (now built in house at Ford)
A 3.0-litre Essex V6-engined variant was developed privately in South Africa by Basil Green Motors, and was sold through the Grosvenor Ford network of dealers as the Cortina Perana; a similar model appeared later in Britain and was known as the Cortina Savage. Savage was available with 1600E trim in all three body styles, while her South African stablemate was offered only as a four-door saloon initially with GT and later E trim
