Los Amates is a populated place located in the department of Ahuachapán, El Salvador. It is situated in the southwestern part of the country and is approximately 8 kilometers northeast of the city of Ahuachapán. The town has a population of about 5,000 people, with the majority being of Mestizo ethnicity.

Los Amates is known for its coffee plantations and agricultural production, especially the cultivation of bananas, coffee, and sugarcane. The town is also famous for its traditional handicrafts made from wood, clay, and textiles, which are sold in local markets and shops.
