High Atlas Redux 5, Morocco, 20130915 I love me some Morocco. To be honest, I haven't even seen half of the country, but what I've seen... it is spectacular!

South of Marrakech you've got the High-Atlas and the Anti-Atlas and further south is the desert. It is one of my favorite holiday destinations. It suits me because it is quiet there, the roads are fabulous and the landscapes are gorgeous. The people that live in the mountains just do their thing. I don't think they demand anything. They respect the day that is there. It looks like a peaceful life to me.

I just drive around. Up and down the mountains and through the sands. Stop, take a picture, and go on. Have I mentioned that is just so quiet? It is almost that there is the planet with nobody on it. You totally unwind and try to get all that beauty in.

I need to go back. Not now. Now is not the moment. When the time is right.

R203, High Atlas, Morocco This road, the R203 between Marrakesh and Taroudant is a treasure! If you want to go from Marrakesh to Agadir, there is the N8 highway. Much faster and safe. Another popular road south of Marrakesh which crosses the mountains is the N9 to Ouarzazate. Also pretty good, maybe better scenery, but crowded. Then there is also the R307 but that one is kind of 4x4 hard core. If you have 2wd and your life is in need of adventure take this one close to sunset. On top the road is all messed up. Your suspension barely manages it. You're thinking: oh shit I will get a puncture, how much longer on these terrible roads. Should I go back? But the sun will go under in 45 minutes and it is 3 hours driving back. Will I get stuck and strand here and do I have to sleep in the car? I was scared. You will be scared too.

Okay, this one is best. R203, Tizi N' Test. It's quiet, good enough roads, great scenery, corners, hairpins, no cops. I can drive up and those this road forever if this planet would let me.

There is no better road on planet Earth than this one. I drove on all of them and I can conclude: this is the best one. Thank you.
