High Atlas Redux 6, Morocco, 20130915 I love me some Morocco. To be honest, I haven't even seen half of the country, but what I've seen... it is spectacular!

South of Marrakech you've got the High-Atlas and the Anti-Atlas and further south is the desert. It is one of my favorite holiday destinations. It suits me because it is quiet there, the roads are fabulous and the landscapes are gorgeous. The people that live in the mountains just do their thing. I don't think they demand anything. They respect the day that is there. It looks like a peaceful life to me.

I just drive around. Up and down the mountains and through the sands. Stop, take a picture, and go on. Have I mentioned that is just so quiet? It is almost that there is the planet with nobody on it. You totally unwind and try to get all that beauty in.

I need to go back. Not now. Now is not the moment. When the time is right.

Adrar Azzayane Awzdrouz is a prominent hill located in the Souss-Massa region of Morocco. Rising to an elevation of approximately 780 meters (2,559 feet), the hill is known for its breathtaking views and unique geological formations.

Situated in a remote area, Adrar Azzayane Awzdrouz is surrounded by vast stretches of arid desert and sparse vegetation. The hill is characterized by its rugged and rocky surface, with layers of sedimentary rocks visible on its slopes. This geological makeup is a testament to the region's ancient history and the forces of nature that have shaped it over time.

The hill offers visitors a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape, with the Atlas Mountains visible in the distance. The stark beauty of the hill and its surroundings makes it a popular spot for photographers and nature enthusiasts.

Adrar Azzayane Awzdrouz is also known for its cultural significance. The hill and its surroundings are home to several nomadic tribes, who have inhabited the area for centuries. These tribes have preserved their traditional way of life, and visitors to the hill can witness their customs and traditions firsthand.

The hill is accessible by road, and there are several hiking trails that lead to the summit. While the climb can be challenging, the reward is well worth it, as visitors are treated to stunning vistas and a sense of tranquility that can only be found in this remote part of Morocco.

The machine one the left was my rental. Renault Symbol berline with naturally aspirated 1.6 litres 16v. It felt it had about 100hp. We don't have this model in the Netherlands but it is a Clio with a trunk. They hardly sell any sedans/ berlines in this country anymore.

I like renting and driving cars when on holiday. I love driving a new (to me) car and I like feeling the foreign roads and roam around and just be free.

Look at that Benz from the 70s. More than 40 years old and probably still comfortableAF. That is a quality machine and I envy the pilot driving it.

R203, High Atlas, Morocco This road, the R203 between Marrakesh and Taroudant is a treasure! If you want to go from Marrakesh to Agadir, there is the N8 highway. Much faster and safe. Another popular road south of Marrakesh which crosses the mountains is the N9 to Ouarzazate. Also pretty good, maybe better scenery, but crowded. Then there is also the R307 but that one is kind of 4x4 hard core. If you have 2wd and your life is in need of adventure take this one close to sunset. On top the road is all messed up. Your suspension barely manages it. You're thinking: oh shit I will get a puncture, how much longer on these terrible roads. Should I go back? But the sun will go under in 45 minutes and it is 3 hours driving back. Will I get stuck and strand here and do I have to sleep in the car? I was scared. You will be scared too.

Okay, this one is best. R203, Tizi N' Test. It's quiet, good enough roads, great scenery, corners, hairpins, no cops. I can drive up and those this road forever if this planet would let me.

There is no better road on planet Earth than this one. I drove on all of them and I can conclude: this is the best one. Thank you.

These roads - these skies, High Atlas, Morocco The other day I was washing my car near a business park and there was this kid flying his drone. I thought: I need one of those to unleash my supressed creativity. :)

But where are you allowed to fly these things? Not in city centre. I was wondering: where do I want to fly and what do I want to capture?

Well... here, what you see here. I would like to drone in the mountains of Morocco! It's quiet there, you are not bothering anyone and it's beautiful. A million different shades of yellow and brown and orange and red. I want to fly here.
